Lil Mills Memorial Garden

Lil Mills Memorial Garden is an outdoor oasis nestled neatly on Main Street Elrose. This wonderful little nook is repleat with benches, ironwork, memorial plaques, rosebeds, a gazebo and a majestic view you just have to see for yourself.

The space where the garden sits now stood blank for 8 years after the Elrose Hotel burned down but in 2001, Jim Mills decided it was time to transform that space into something more. After fundraising and much envisioning, Jim contacted Lauraine Thompson to draw up plans for a garden design. In spring of 2002, the dream started to become a reality.

Donations and support rolled in from the Town and surrounding community. Dirt and manure were donated from local farmers, a local blacksmith contributed ornamental ironworks, a sundial and a gazebo and countless volunteer hours have amounted to something pretty amazing.

Be sure to come and check out the garden for yourself on a sunny summer afternoon. The benches make for a perfect picnic spot.

The garden is also a place where residents can request to place plaques in memory of their loved ones to honour them.
