Hunters are asked to do the following when hunting in the R.M.:

  • Be careful with fire
  • Be respectful of the landowner’s wishes while hunting
  • Close all gates
  • Contact the landowner even when land is not posted
  • Don’t drive on crops, including seeded, muddy or swathed fields
  • It is illegal to hunt on posted land without permission
  • Report any hunters damaging crops or property
  • Report illegal hunting to the TIPP line
  • Respect all private land

No hunting of wildlife is permitted between 1/2 hour after sunset and 1/2 hour before sunrise. Check for sunrise/sunset times on the National Research Council Canada website.

Turn in Poachers and Environmental Violators (TIP)

Contact our 24-hour, seven day a week TIP service if you notice any fishing, wildlife or environmental resource violations.

  • Anyone is eligible to report.
  • All calls and submissions are confidential – you do not have to give your name.
  • Those who provide information leading to a conviction could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Report any suspicious activity such as:

  • Trafficking in fish or wildlife
  • Fish being caught in closed spawning areas, with illegal nets, fish traps or snares
  • Wasting game
  • Burning copper wire
  • Unauthorized removal of aquatic plants or beach construction that could destroy fisheries habitat
  • Hunting in closed areas
  • Fish being sold by commercial fishermen without valid licences
  • Dumping of toxic materials on land or in water
  • Hunting at night with lights
  • Illegal forest harvesting
  • Unsafe hunting or fishing practices
  • Dumping tires

Provide the information below, if possible:

  • Licence plate of the suspect vehicle/boat
  • Date/time/location of the offence
  • Whether it is ongoing or not
  • Description of the violation
  • Description of the violators
  • Description of the vehicle
  • Photos or video of the offence or the offender
